Proof of this is in an article posted by the Denver Westword for the 10 Best Hip Hop Shows In Denver for the month of May. Tech N9ne was listed of course, along with Big Boi, Mobb Deep and Juicy J and others.

It all started in KC, and for The Independent Powerhouse Tour, it’s going to end there.

On May 11, 2013 Tech N9ne makes a triumphant return to his hometown to cap off one of the most elite tours that he’s put on in years. We caught up with the Strange Music general to get his thoughts on what it’s like to give back to the city that created who he is today: an independent legend.

What is it like for you to step out on that stage knowing you’re in front of your hometown and feeling that excitement. When you do that are you getting flashbacks of what it was like before this?

Well, everytime I step out there I can’t believe it’s as big as it’s gotten because Kansas City’s a hard market to crack. I just can’t believe all the love that I receive when I’m on there. The energy is fucking crazy and gets crazier every year so I can only imagine that this one is going to be even higher, the energy level, because of the acts because of our lineup and everything.

Every time I’m up there and I’m inside that little whatever my backdrop is, whatever I get uncovered from, and I hear all the screaming, I still can’t believe it, that people still love me that much. I’ll never get used to it and I’m blessed to have that love.

They say it can be the best to see your favorite artist in their hometown. It’s kind of crazy that you’re in a position to where you have people coming from California, New York to come see you on this Kansas City show.

Wait a minute, back up, back up. I got people from Germany coming for this one.

Oh wow.

Yes. So people are coming from overseas on the KC show.

So it’s really worldwide now.

Yes. It’s getting to where we’re going to have that giant barbecue like we’ve been talking about. Everybody comes to Kansas City for that weekend you know? Because people are already turning their KC dates into that, they’re coming from everywhere.

I don’t want to press this part too much because I don’t know what you’re schedule is like going into this but I know that for the Crossroads, you really had, especially older fans, go crazy because you pulled out some older songs that you hadn’t done in awhile. Do you plan a surprise this time around?

Yeah man we’re doing a couple ones that we’ve never done before on this show and the fans are already loving it everywhere. I’m not going to tell you what it is but you know, we’re pulling some surprises and we’ve been working it everyday out here like crazy. I have bronchitis on stage and everything but once I”m on stage up there it’s over with because of all the love and the energy.

Let me ask this last thing about Kansas City, but what’s the best place to stay in Kansas City? Because I remember last time you kept mentioning the Hotel Phillips.

Yeah because it’s close to the venue. Two minutes away. It’s the ultimate place to stay in Kansas City if you have the means.

The ultimate place to stay in Kansas City – if you have the means, is Tech N9ne’s house (laughs). That’s what some people do. It’s far from the venue though.

You might have a bunch of people coming to your house.

Ha! Nah, they gotta have the inside invite.

The rapper was possessed by his sometimes sadistic persona, but instead of it being something to fear, it was frighteningly awesome. In a recent interview with Vice, Tech N9ne was able to shed light on his relationship with Lil Wayne beyond that of the music.

The Young Money founder and popular rapper broke into headlines recently due to a bout of ill health that reportedly put him in critical condition.

Tech N9ne touches on this in the interview, revealing his close personal ties with Wayne:

Do you and Wayne have a lot in common? You two basically have the same job.

Yeah, we’re real dudes.  Right before I called you, I was about to text him and say I’m glad you’re OK, boy. He always texts me back, he’s a real guy. That’s what we have in common. We also have stress in common, and with stress comes a lot of other things. Everybody has stress. That’s what we deal with as human beings. So, whenever one of us is having stress, we hit each other up and go, “Are you OK? You good?”

Tech N9ne also talks about his recent single “B.I.T.C.H.”, how he thinks that the Independent Powerhouse Tour has the best lineup Strange has had in a long time and also reveals what it takes to succeed if you want to be an emcee.

With a national tour less than a few weeks away, Tech N9ne is busy as hell with a multitude of tasks: one of them constructing a set list to satisfy the thousands of  fans that will be in attendance at The Independent Powerhouse Tour 2013.

Tech went to Twitter to actually express his frustration for what can only be the best problem to have in this scenario: too much of a good thing.

It’s not that he has too many songs, rather he’s having trouble figuring out what order they should be in. With 40 tracks of hip hop gold, song order’s a bitch.

Tech also mentioned later that Strange Music CEO Travis O’Guin told him that he should add “Dysfunctional” from Sickology 101 to his set list, which has proven to be a huge fan favorite. Tech went on to ask the fans what they thought.

Tech N9ne To Tour Europe In November

The Kansas City Rapper’s 22-City “Live In Europe” Jaunt Includes Stops In Berlin, Paris, Hamburg; Tour Comes On The Heels Of Tech N9ne’s Coronation As One Of Rap’s Power Players

(Los Angeles, CA) Tech N9ne continues his breakthrough 2012 with an upcoming “Live In Europe” tour that includes 22 stops. The Kansas City rap pioneer kicks off his jaunt with special guest Krizz Kaliko November 8 at a gig at The Islington Academy in London and wraps the outing December 1 at La Bellevilloise in Paris. The “Live In Europe” tour will be a fitting bookend for Tech N9ne’s remarkable 2012. The independent artist was named one of Forbes’ Cash Kings 2012: Hip-Hop’s 20 Top Earners in September. He was one of only two independent artists who earned a slot in the magazine’s Top 20, which also included such industry heavyweights as Dr. Dre, Diddy and Jay-Z.

On the tour front, Tech N9ne made history with the “Hostile Takeover 2012” Tour, a record-breaking outing that featured 90 shows in 99 days. Prior to hitting Europe next month, the prolific rapper will also be headlining the prestigious A3C Hip Hop Festival 2012 in Atlanta on October 13.

Tech N9ne was No. 95 on Pollstar’s 2012 Mid-Year ranking of the Top 100 Worldwide Tours in terms of ticket sales. He made No. 97 in terms of gross dollars taken in for North American Tours. He is one of three rappers on the list, behind only Drake and Pitbull.

On the music side, Tech N9ne’s digital-only Klusterfuk EP debuted in March as the No. 1 independent album in the country, according to SoundScan and Billboard, which track album sales. In July, he earned a gold certification for his “Caribou Lou” single. Last month, the Missouri rapper released the E.B.A.H. EP. An acronym for “Evil Brain Angel Heart,” the 10-track collection features several sides of the Kansas City rapper’s personality. His next EP, Boiling Point, will be released October 30. His next studio album will be released in the first quarter of 2013 on Tech N9ne’s Strange Music imprint.
