Happy Holidays from everybody at Strange Music! We were able to get Tech N9ne on the horn after his meet and greet session in Columbia to share his thoughts about the holidays. The interview turned out to be more funny than expected, as Tech finds out he’ll be able to drink hard liquor for New Year’s and expresses his excitement in child-like fashion.

Before heading west to perform series of intimate, smaller-venue shows in Colorado, I had a chance to talk to Tech N9ne over the phone and discuss recent developments in his career as well as his plans for the future. Tech addressed the whole DJ Whoo Kid near-fiasco which almost resulted in a cancelled mixtape, his recent collaboration with Travis Barker, All 6s and 7s, his recent burst of popularity, and much more. Since the interview was so long and in depth, it will be broken up into two parts, the next which will be available Sunday. Enjoy!

What’s Thanksgiving like for an elite MC? For a more personal bit, we asked Tech, Kutt, and Krizz some questions centered around the holiday that brings us all together for some good eating. Here’s what Tech had to say.
Editor’s Note: Upon asking Tech what he was the most thankful for in 2010, the answer he gave was more poignant than expected, and we felt it was important to let the fans hear it for themelves. From now on we will attempt to implement more audio clips for our exclusive interviews with Strange Music Artists. Click on the hyperlink below to hear Tech N9ne.
What are you the most thankful for in 2010?
What Tech is thankful for in 2010
What are some of the traditions you and your family have for thanksgiving?
We eat, we sleep, and we go to the movie. I don’t know how I’m going to go this year. [referring to autograph requests, etc.]
Do you have any traditional foods for Thanksgiving within your family?
Yes. We get smoked turkey…and dressing…macaroni…and cheese…and broccoli-and-cheese casserole–I love it. Candy yams. Cranberry sauce to go with the turkey and dressing–not with the nuts in it though I like the plain cranberry sauce. Then we go to [my wife's] people’s house. They’re French-Creole so they make dirty rice that’s wonderful. They make Louisiana food. It’s wonderful. I live for that dirty rice because we only have it once a year.
Do you have any memories from a certain Thanksgiving that stand out to you the most?
Yeah but it aint good so I don’t want to talk about it! [laughs] It was family oriented so…you know what I’m saying? It wasn’t cool.
Is there a certain relative you don’t normally get to see that you look forward to seeing on the holidays?
My children. They’re flying in. Dontez is already here with me. My two girls man, you know what I’m sizzlin’? Rainbow and Aaliyah. I get to laugh for a whole week–they’re the funniest people I’ve ever met.
Who cuts the turkey?
The wife. She cuts it.
Pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie?
I like pumpkin pie.
Cool whip or no?
I mean I can do it but I don’t really have to have it. I’m not really a sweets type of dude. I don’t eat dessert or nothing like that. I don’t munch on candy. Dessert to me is liquor. Every time I eat, whether it’s lunch, dinner, or a late-night snack, I always have me a drink afterwards. (It’s important to note here that Jim Morrison was quite the drinker. Coincidence?)

Tech and Whoo Kid discussed their plans for the Bad Season mixtape, Tech’s visit with Lil Wayne, the irony behind “Areola”, and the skinny jeans “epidemic”. The entertaining interview shed more light on just how soon we will get to hear Bad Season.

During his stay in New York for press week and to visit Lil Wayne, Tech N9ne had a chance to sit down with the lovely Angela Yee of Shade 45 Radio on Sirius for her show Lip Service. Krizz Kaliko also makes his presence known on the mic and the banter is very entertaining between the three. Krizz even goes on to explain when she had to give a stripper friend a “love tap” in self-defense. Heartbreaker!

Before Tech N9ne performed in Lawrence, Kansas during the homecoming stretch of The K.O.D. Tour, he sat down with The Lawrence Journal-World (LJW) for an interview. Tech discussed his love for Lawrence, his rapport with Juggaloes, and the perks and struggles of being an independent artist. LJW elicited a humorous response from Tech when they mentioned “One of the reasons you have such a loyal following is that you put on quite the show, complete with costumes, makeup and choreography…” Before the interviewer could finish Tech interjected: “Let’s get one thing straight: I don’t wear makeup. I wear face paint! War paint, no makeup!” Read the whole interview or listen below.
