The forces that be made up for a radio reunion of epic proportions.

Tech N9ne went on Sirius XM to revisit The World Famous Wake Up Show hosted by the iconic radio duo of Sway and King Tech. If you recall, Tech made his first national splash with his murderous verse on Sway and King Tech’s “The Anthem” in 1999, also featuring RZA, Eminem, KRS-One and many others for what is now one of the most heralded posse cuts of all time.

Amongst the things that Tech talked about were his five secrets of success, his come up with The Wake Up Show and his constant touring grind and what that means for his success.

They also played many of Tech N9ne’s old-school classics like “Big Bad Wolf” and “Soul Searchin”. On a surprise tip, Don Juan called in after Tech N9ne’s finished interview to reminisce with King Tech about the classic sound that Don Juan and Tech carved out to begin Tech N9ne’s legendary career.

To top it all off, the episode featured the premiere of “Blammers and Burners” featuring Crooked I and Tech N9ne over a devastating production that encourages both treacherous emcees to go all-out. As expected, Crooked and Tech kill the track that has been waiting on the shelves for over five years.

R.A. The Rugged man gave his first sneak peek from his upcoming album Legends Never Die by premiering the song “Holla-Loo-Yah” which features Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko.

Giants of the underground come together for what makes up a song of epic proportions. Over a beat that sounds like it was recorded at a concert hall, Tech N9ne and R.A. spit verses outside of their usual element (Tech slows it down, R.A. speeds it up) and Krizz Kaliko lays down a devastating hook. The result is a track that is nothing less than legendary.

Turns out the Gift Of Rap 2012 isn’t the only thing keeping Tech excited.

While promoting his upcoming Gift Of Rap 2012 benefit show, Tech N9ne stopped into 96.5 The Buzz for a live interview to discuss why the event is so significant during this holiday season.

Aside from expressing his eagerness to perform at the Gift Of Rap 2012, Tech N9ne also discussed Strange Music and in a hilarious segment explained his affinity for Applebee’s, specifically their wonton chicken tacos.

It’s clear that Tech was amped on this particular morning – check it out!

For fans that have been keeping up with the podcast, it’s no secret that we’ve had some stellar guests in recent history. Among the top of those coveted guests is none other than X to the Z, Xzibit.

As someone who’s been active in the game for over 20 years, fans knew Xzibit would have some interesting insight into the music business as well as all things Strange. During the podcast we had a chance to let some callers phone in with their questions, and our fans came up with some thoughtful and interesting questions for our esteemed guest.

When asked by one of our fans what it’s like to work with the King of Darkness himself, Xzibit made the joke that he lives in L.A. so he works with the King of Darkness every day. Jokes aside however, Xzibit made it clear that he has been watching Tech N9ne grow from afar and has been learning from Strange Music’s example.

Xzibit also dropped a couple nuggets of gossipy goodness:

We’ve spoken about doing some records recently, so I know this is a prelude to something great.

In response to the same caller’s question, the living legend also alluded to a desire to tour with Tech N9ne if the two come up with some tracks together:

 It’ll be pretty incredible if we get some hits together and decide to combine and create a juggernaut.

When we prodded further however, Xzibit re-assured us that as of now his lips are sealed as far as details are concerned:

  I can’t tell you anything yet, but I’m pretty sure as soon as I hear something, as soon as we get something solid, it’ll be great to be pushed out on both our sides, on both our media networks.

Another curious fan later asked Xzibit how he was put onto Strange Music, which illicited a genuine and exciting answer from Xzibit. He explained that he’s a genuine fan of Tech N9ne & Strange Music, and that his respect and admiration for Tech N9ne’s skills on and off the mic have inspired him to listen to Tech’s music:

I didn’t get put onto Strange Music.  I actually listen as a fan.

As the fan call segment of the podcast neared it’s end, another fan asked this loaded question: What do you like most about Tech N9ne?

As big as Xzibit is and has been for the last 2 decades, his answer was nothing less than humble and observant. He explained that Tech’s abilities as a business man, coupled with his aggressive style and incomparable stage presence made him a life long Tech N9ne fan. Xzibit even went so far as to say that he believed he and Tech are “cut from the same cloth”, and that he’s killin’ it in the Midwest:

I think the strength comes in his confidence as a business man first,  because without the business man, I learned that from Dr. Dre, without having the business behind you, and the plan and the vision, then it’s all gonna go to shit.  So, on top of that, his style is aggressive.  He’s a wordsmith.  That song that he did with Busta Rhymes where they was spittin’ at a thousand miles a minute, that’s not just random shit, you know what I’m sayin’?  That’s like real focused, real get down.  I think that’s where my appreciation comes in.  He keeps his pulse on what’s happening around him, yes, but he also stays in his lane which is something that I strive to do as well. 

And then the way he dresses his stage, he’s not just puttin’ on a rapper chain and walkin’ back and forth across the stage holdin’ his nuts.  He really performs for the crowd, and that’s also where I feel like – if you ever been to one of my shows, you’ll understand.  I don’t go up there and try to look cool and try to he swaggy and whatever the fuck that means.  I want to be in sweat by the end of the show, and I want people jumpin’ and screamin’ like I am.  So, that’s where I try to get into my live performances, and that’s where my appreciation comes for Tech.  I think we’re cut from the same cloth, I’m comin’ from the west, he comin’ from the Midwest, and he’s killin’ it, and I think that’s why I like him.

Now that’s an answer that you just wouldn’t hear from someone trying to conduct a cookie-cutter interview, or someone that wasn’t really a fan or what he was speaking about. Xzibit showed that aside from being a master of his craft, he’s also a fan of others and really keeps an ear and an eye out for pure talent.

During the rest of this interesting and extremely informative podcast, Xzibit touched on everything from his experiences on MTV’s Pimp My Ride to his new album Napalm which just released on October 5th.

Tech N9ne steps in for a guest spot and in typical fashion, drops off a verse that lets no syllable make it out alive. Old school Tech fans are sure to feel the throwback vibe here.

From the days of running up to the Wake Up Show to drop freestyles to their most recent meeting on The RICANstruction, Tech N9ne and Chino XL have maintained a mutual respect over the years that goes deeper than music.

Beloved for their raw lyricism, both emcees have accumulated strong followings within the indie circuit and have continued to excel in a class all their own. It was only a matter of time then before Chino XL called upon Tech for the gritty and downright lyrical beatdown that is “Hell Song”.

Just after the release of The RICANstruction, Chino XL joined us live on Strange Music Podcast to discuss the album and his long career in music. In this interview segment, Chino XL recalled putting together “Hell Song” and expressed his admiration for the Kansas City King.

What was the motivation behind “Hell Song”?

Well, first of all let me say that, and I hope this is taken the right way, when I was asked about it, when I was asked “How is it?”, and I said, “He didn’t do the double time on it.” I like that because to me, his double time is incredible.  He’s innovated ways to do that.  But when he winds outside of the double time, to me, is when you really hear how meticulous his flow is.  You get what I mean?  Sometimes you have to see somebody a little bit ordinary to really realize how extraordinary it is.  When he sent that verse dude, I could hear every single timing change.  You know what I mean?  Every single piece of the pocket that he found.  And I was just proud that he rocked like that on my joint.

You know, once I did “Sickology 101″, the funny story about that is I was in Hawaii doing shows or whatever, and we got the call that Tech wanted me on the joint that was gonna be me, him, and Crook.  And then I literally had, I think, 14 hours to get it to him, and like 8 of those were taken up by the plane.  And when I got it to him on time he was so appreciative.  Not that I ever thought there was a question that if I needed anything from him that I couldn’t get it.  I mean, we’ve been workin’ forever, but he was like , “Yo, whenever you need me,” and I just thought that this was the project that I really wanted him on.  And then I just kind of felt with the imagery and everything, you know, it’s like hell on one song, dude.  And I like it with the cuts.  DJ Romes put the cuts in there from M.O.P., I’m proud of it.  It sounds great.  The mix is great, and it’s good.  Sometimes you hear that two artists are working together and you’re excited, and then the song doesn’t really build up to the hype, and it just kind of feels like – on “The Anthem”, me and Tech workin’ together, it exceeded the hype.  I feel like “Sickology 101″ with me and him and Crooked I, nobody saw that comin’ and it exceeded the hype.  And with “Hell Song”, from the reactions that we’ve been getting or whatever – love working with Tech.

I’m so glad that you brought up the double time thing, because you’re absolutely right.  When Tech goes outside of that double time flow, that’s when you really hear what he can do.  And I was so glad he did that.

Yeah.  I feel like he’s less deniable then.  I feel like when he does the double time thing, people when they’re talking about his music, they can say, “Oh man, he’s great at” you get what I mean?  They try to put it in a box, “Oh man, at that fast thing he’s great”.  No, no, no. As a strong writer, as an artist and as a human being, you know you could tell.  He’s great at all three of those things.

You’re obviously someone who’s known Tech for a long time.

Yeah, man! [Laughs]

 As a peer of his, what is it like to see the things he’s doing today?

It’s funny.  I was afforded the gracious thing of presenting him with an achievement award recently.  And it wasn’t planned or anything.  I just was in the place and they were about to get somebody else to do it, and this guy was like “Chino, do you wanna give him the award?” and Violet was like, “I think it would be cool” and I was like, “Yeah, I’ll give it to him”.  But it’s funny since you’re looking at somebody, of course, that everybody knows as Tech N9ne, and of course I know him not only as Tech N9ne, but as his government name, as he knows mine, and it’s kind of like I’m looking at him as just two grown men who just wanted to be heard.  And to be able to give him this thing and say, “Listen, man.  You are a trend setter as far as underground music goes.”.  Of course (unintelligible), but it’s so genuine for anybody who knows his work that when he started rockin’, it might have been 9 people there.  He’d go back again fearlessly and there’d be 90, till it was 900, till it was 9,000, till it’s 90,000.  He set litmus on how, and a pattern that somebody can use, a young kid can use, as far as underground music goes.  How to promote it, how to distribute it, and how to believe in it when no one else does.  I’m extremely proud of him, dude.  And this is not because I’m on Strange Music podcast, my dude.  Everybody knows that that’s my G.
