Let’s get “Am I A Psycho?” to the top spot!

Readers may remember Jason Whitlock from his appearance on Tech N9ne’s 2009 release, K.O.D. As one of the Kansas City King’s biggest supporters, Jason Whitlock has always applauded Tech N9ne’s music.  Most recently, he jumped on Twitter to declare Tech’s “This Ring” as the “greatest rap song ever recorded.”  The shout out on Twitter is no doubt a great show of respect, but is not the first time “This Ring” has received such attention.  From fans to Tech N9ne himself, “This Ring” has always been at the center of heated debates labeling the track as the best writing Tech N9ne has ever done.

Whether or not listeners agree, Jason Whitlock’s comments are proof that Tech’s classics continue to hit big with listeners.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 3:30 PM CST, that Klusterfuk that you know and love, Tech N9ne was on the air to take your calls and answer your questions.

With the Klusterfuk EP on the way, a world-record setting tour about to kick off, and a video on 106 And Park‘s rotation, there was a lot to talk about!

Here were some of the many highlights of the interview:

Klusterfuk

• Tech reveals that he recorded the entire EP in four days, a total of seven tracks, one intro and six songs.
• The EP features a lot of storytelling from Tech (as has already been displayed in the pre-release song “Blur”) and also many sung choruses from Tech, who revealed that he sings on four choruses. Some of the titles revealed were “Awkward”, “Can’t Stand Me”, and “DKNY (Different Kind of Nigga You)”, which Tech said was his favorite song and closes out the EP.

Tour

• For the Hostile Takeover 2012 tour, Tech reveals that he is switching up the set a lot, pulling out a lot of old songs, many which he had to remove from the final set list due to time constraints (one verses on classics such as “Imma Tell” and “Planet Rock 2K”).
• Tech reveals that he will be performing his verse from “Unfair” on the new tour.
• Tech says that the “drinking section” is the best it has ever been, with new additions such as “Hard Liquor”, “I Need A Drink”, and “KC Tea”.
• On Machine Gun Kelly, co-headliner for Hostile Takeover 2012: “It’s going to be wild to have somebody that wild on tour with me and bring that much energy to the stage….MY fucking crowd is going to LOVE MGK. I’ve seen it. This motherfucker is rock and roll, punk, hip hop–everything.”

Next Album

• Tech reveals he’s headed to Los Angeles to collaborate for his next album: “What I’m about to do in LA is going to fuck everybody up.” Who is he collaborating with in LA? Only time will tell.
• Tech reveals that he’s highly interested in working with rock and roll bands for his next album and that it is going to be something totally different from anything he’s ever done.
• The phrase he’s using to guide Seven during the beatmaking process is “Bigger. Bigger than All 6′s and 7′s, bigger than Welcome to Strangeland.” Seven has already submitted a beat for the next album and that fits the bill. Tech described it as “humungous.”

Dubstep producer Excision recently stopped through Kansas City’s Midland Theater for a live performance as part of his latest tour.  In attendance for the show was none other than Tech N9ne, who took to Twitter to share a photo of his experience at the dubstep concert.  Aside from running into fans of his own music, Tech later found himself catching the attention of the very performer he had gone to see.  Excision replied to Tech N9ne’s initial tweet and reached out for what may end up being one of Tech’s most interesting collaborations yet.  Will Tech N9ne dive into the world of dubstep?

From his front door to a special shrine dedicated to clowns and Michael Myers, Tech N9ne gave fans an exclusive glimpse of his favorite belongings.  An admitted fanatic of Michael Myers and the Halloween films, Tech tweeted a series of photos showing off his Halloween collection, which includes an original Michael Myers mask.  Between clowns, Michael Jackson dolls, and Mac Dre bobbleheads, Tech’s fun house of sorts holds some of the greatest inspirations for the King Of Darkness.

Replying to a fan, Tech N9ne revealed that he would soon be headed to Miami to shoot two brand new ¡MAYDAY! music videos. Judging from the tweet, fans can expect to see Tech N9ne make a few cameos.  With both KLUSTERFUK and Take Me To You Leader on the way in March, the Kansas City King and ¡MAYDAY! are giving fans some big surprises.

Taking an already stellar track and adding something new is not often an easy task…but drums usually help.  Adding “Love Me Tomorrow” off of Tech’s All 6′s And 7′s to the list of tracks that sound epic with drums backing them -“Worldwide Choppers” here, and “Who Do I Catch” here -user SchoenDrums’ multiple angled video gets your feet tapping and head bobbing.  Rock on!

An American artist once said “In rap music, even though the element of poetry is very strong, so is the element of the drum, the implication of the dance. Without the beat, its commercial value would certainly be more tenuous.”  Which basically means the beat is the driving force behind the music.

Enter nautica85′s video of himself adding some snare drum to fan-favorite Tech N9ne track “Industry Is Punks”. In the description he says he “took the first two versus of this song and transcribed the rhythm of the words and added stickings, buzzes, and other stuff to make it ‘cool.’”

…And the beat goes on!
