Scarface shook things up considerably in a recent interview by stating that “hip hop is white.” Tech N9ne chimed in on the controversial statement that sent shockwaves throughout the hip hop community.

Tech N9ne offers his opinion on the statements of a fellow legend who also appeared with Tech on his song “Pillow Talkin” from Killer. In an interview given to Stupid Dope, Tech N9ne seconds the notion that there is a big white presence in hip hop, however, makes it known that the tastemaking aspect of hip hop has always started in the streets, and that it doesn’t get any more street than Scarface.

What do you think of Scarface’s recent comments that ‘hip hop is white’… I think whenever I went to a NWA, Public Enemy, Eric B., Rakim, Ice-T show back in the day it was all white people. They’ve always been the majority when it comes to the consumer but what Scarface said has some validity because the people who are the taste makers and the people who dictate what’s dope to go on TV or radio probably have a distorted view when it comes to n****s with something to say like Scarface. Like when he put out The Fix, I thought that was one of the best things he ever put out and sometimes it can be over the heads of the youngsters, cuz it’s so game oriented. So I see why he feels that way. Because the people who are dictating what’s hot and what’s not are probably younger than us and the kids run this shit. So I feel him, but at the same time you gotta get in and if you wanna really still survive, they said it in the song Street Life, if you keep it young your song is always sung. But it’s hard to keep it young, when like I’m 41 right now but I don’t have to try because I’m young at heart and I’m sick but I’m ready to party right now. But hip hop has always been white, but it’s black in some places also, I’ve seen it.

So I’d say to Scarface, you’re the taste maker Scarface, you tell the motherf*ckers what’s dope ’cause it always starts in the street, my n***a and you are the street my n***a, so you are gonna dictate what’s cool so keep doing that and you ain’t gotta worry bout what color hip hop is. Just know that hip hop is everything and for everybody. And Scarface is a vampire like me because we’ve seen the rise and fall of a lot of emcees and he’s able to come back and have shows so he’s in a blessed position but if you keep it young, your song is always sung. You know what you doing, don’t let it deter you brother.

The amount of love that goes back and forth between Tech N9ne and the entire city of Denver, Colorado gets bigger and bigger every year.

In an attempt to help fans fathom the massive amount of releases being put out by Strange Music this year, label CEO Travis O’ Guin commissioned the Independent Powerhouse Sampler, a compilation featuring tracks from every 2013 Strange Music release.

Aside from a surprising peek into Tech N9ne’s upcoming album Something Else, the sampler also contains tracks from Wrekonize, Rittz, Brotha Lynch Hung, ¡MAYDAY!, and more!

Not only is the sampler up for free download, but Travis just unveiled to HipHopDX recently that he printed 500,000 physical copies, which will also be given out for free on the tour with the same name!

In another F.T.I. move, Strange Music Street Teams across the nation have begun delivering physical copies of the Independent Powerhouse Samplers to establishments in every city they can hit!

We talked to Strange Music Leader Of Marketing and Street Promotions Aaron Bean about what he thought of the samplers, he had this to say:

These samplers truly are the best way to get the point across. It’s not like a poster or a flyer where you see it and you don’t really know what to expect. You can put this in your stereo immediately and know exactly what you’re going to get. We’re spreading these things literally EVERYWHERE – record stores, gas stations, restaurants…anywhere that’ll take ‘em, so keep an eye out. And if you see a Strange Music vehicle riding around, flag us down! We’ve always got some on deck.

So if you can’t make a date on the tour, check around your city for copies of the sampler, and if you find them somewhere, take a picture and let us know! We’ll be compiling  a list of places in each city that have copies in stock.

Yukmouth has announced that The Regime’s upcoming double album will feature none other than Tech N9ne.

The Regime was a hip hop collective formed by Yukmouth in 1997. After a long absence from the game, The Regime is back with the double-release of Dragon Gang and The Last Dragon.

The double album is set to be released on February 26, 2013 and has a ton of features including BG Bulletwound, Dru Down, Grant Rice and more.

With Brotha Lynch Hung’s “Stabbed” making its rounds across the web, let’s put it to the test with the other times that Tech N9ne and Brotha Lynch Hung have sliced and diced a track together.

As you can see, the chemistry goes way back before Tech’s latest appearance on Mannibalector. The two first found themselves on the C-Bo-assisted track, “187 On A Hook”, sporting their vintage flows over a Sacc-Town sounding instrumental. The collaboration progressed on “My World” from Tech N9ne’s Everready, and continued on “Strange Music Box” from Tech’s K.O.D.

After Lynch signed the dotted line and aligned with Strange Music, it’s been consistently on ever since. The two have found themselves on numerous appearances on each other’s albums, like Tech’s mind-boggling flow for Lynch’s “Takin’ Online Orders” or Lynch’s paranoid bars for Tech N9ne’s “Sad Circus”.

After taking them all into consideration, now we must ask, which one is the best?
