What Song Turned You Into A TechN9cian? [Discussion]

Everyone has a certain song (or two… or ten!) by Tech N9ne that really speaks to them, and it’s hard to choose just one to name an absolute “favorite.” But there’s a certain album or song that really got every Techn9cian into the Strange Music scene.  Maybe they heard it online, in a friend’s car, or even at a show.  What songs really speak to you and get you hyphy?

For me, “Einstein” has always been a favorite.  There’s something about the fast-paced beat and the way Tech just spits it and kills.  His performance on the Strange Noize Tour 2008 at the  Cleveland Agora has a special meaning for me because it was at this show, during this exact song, that I realized that I would absolutely, positively be a Techn9cian for life. “Bout Ta Bubble” is also a favorite of mine. It’s always awesome to watch him perform the track live, especially when he remixes it for tours.  The track always connects with the crowd.

The choreography that Tech and the Strange Music crew perform at shows are always great and in synch.  The whole experience of being at a show is breathtaking.  Watching Tech perform makes me get an undying desire to adventure and conquer.  Tech N9ne is intriguing and a-typical, just like me.  I think that’s why I love him so much.  Everything he does is instilled with beauty and a hint of darkness, the perfect contradiction. We would like to know what song turned you into a life-long Tech N9ne fan.

The first Tech N9ne song I heard was Jellysickle when it was in Alpha Dog, but the track that made me a fan was Riot Maker. In Riot Maker when it hits break in the first verse where Tech rhymes:  ”I don’t know why they keep pumping it’s something/Maybe in the music when it be pumping it’s crunk and it’s hella haterific” I was hooked after that.

i knew about tech for a while but i just kinda knew about his big singles like “the beast” “riot maker” “caribou lou” and it stayed like that for a while. but i think it was when i heard “welcome to the midwest” that i started to really get into him, and explore his music more. one day i heard “breathe” on youtube and then i got his whole anghellic album, then slowly one by one, i enter Tech N9nes world

    ‘In The Trunk’ from K.O.D
My friend this past fall had me listen to this song every friday night football game. I had no idea what I was listening to, but thanks to him, I’ve grown to love his music and hop to see him as stops by in Tulsa for the “All 6′s and 7′s” Tour

  • BLOODY B

just like wine the longer it sits ( or CHOPPS it up ) it only gets better… The first song I heard and that instantly got me hooked was “Twisted” that has since been one of my top 100+ Tech songs i like, i then heard “Sinister Tech” off of Anghellic and looked more of his shit up and found some old school hits that i still bump. I bet half of the newbies can’t name 1 song off of The Calm Before The Storm it just sucks to see these new fans coming in that haven’t really been apart of Tech’s career from the beginning to actually realize where he has come from and how hard he has worked to get his DUES…. Tech just keep doing you and making that STRANGE MUSIC and i’ll listen to you until its time yadadamean??? MUCH LOVE….

Mine is a toss up between Slacker cause that is just me all around and Suicide Letters cause that song has literally saved my life a few times!

  • Sethaustin58

I remember very clearly the song that got me hooked on Tech N9ne.  It was Suicide letters.  I was only 10 years old when it came out on Anghellic, and I actually didn’t really like rap music that much, I was more into country.   My brother who was 14 and big into the rap scene went and got Anghellic the day it came out. He listened to it over and over and over again, always skipping over Suicide Letters.  So one day out of curiosity I gave it a listen and I became addicted to that song, i had to have listened to it at least 10 times a day.  Ever since then i have been a huge huge huge Tech N9ne fan, been reppin Tech for 10 years now, its crazy!  TECHN9CIAN I AM, WHOLE HEARTEDLY, IN LIFE AND IN DEATH!!!!

  • Touchofthewraith

It was a preformance he did when he was reping the release of absolute power, was at an icp concert in Phx AZ at the mesa ampatheater ( actualy it was like my second or 3rd icp concert) and Tech N9ne came on stage, me and a good friend of mine looked at each other and said who the f*** is this dude?
And then the hook came on, “this is the town where the clowns put it down babby” and that was it.. all he needed to get a chance to be heard and frm then on ive been stuck on N9ne! Tech N9NE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • KC TREND

Everready – My World  .  “Rather be off’d than soft with his style.  I got hopes that my life might bet better, but I been broke so I might swipe your cheddar, you better get ready to get me I got a vendetta, comin to get it whether weed or money whateva.”  Sinister Tech got me hooked, but My World made me Strange.
