What Song Turned You Into A TechN9cian? [Discussion]

Everyone has a certain song (or two… or ten!) by Tech N9ne that really speaks to them, and it’s hard to choose just one to name an absolute “favorite.” But there’s a certain album or song that really got every Techn9cian into the Strange Music scene.  Maybe they heard it online, in a friend’s car, or even at a show.  What songs really speak to you and get you hyphy?

For me, “Einstein” has always been a favorite.  There’s something about the fast-paced beat and the way Tech just spits it and kills.  His performance on the Strange Noize Tour 2008 at the  Cleveland Agora has a special meaning for me because it was at this show, during this exact song, that I realized that I would absolutely, positively be a Techn9cian for life. “Bout Ta Bubble” is also a favorite of mine. It’s always awesome to watch him perform the track live, especially when he remixes it for tours.  The track always connects with the crowd.

The choreography that Tech and the Strange Music crew perform at shows are always great and in synch.  The whole experience of being at a show is breathtaking.  Watching Tech perform makes me get an undying desire to adventure and conquer.  Tech N9ne is intriguing and a-typical, just like me.  I think that’s why I love him so much.  Everything he does is instilled with beauty and a hint of darkness, the perfect contradiction. We would like to know what song turned you into a life-long Tech N9ne fan.

I got hopes that my life might bet better, but I been broke so I might swipe your cheddar, you better get ready to get me I got a vendetta, comin to get it whether weed or money whateva.” Sinister Tech got me hooked, but My World made me Strange.

Just recently start to twiztid with a cousin and he heard the song caribou lou from someone else and had me listen to it. At first I didn’t like but he gave me the song and I put it in my playlist with System of a down and disturb. After a while I started to enjoy it more and more. So I ask my cousin for another song if he had any more and it was einstein. Then I was hooked. My first cd was Killer and my first pre-order was sickology. And after that I have bought all to absolute power.  I wish I could find a non open copy of anghellic. My favorties are Devil boy “anghellic” and Losin’ my mind “bad season”. But I love alot of tech’s songs…. TECH N9NE!

I was hooked as soon as heard the beats of “Bitch Sickness” as a recommednation from a Juggalo homie back in ’00. SINCE that, “Cloudy Eyed Stroll,” “Relish,” “Cotton Soldiers,” “Clueless,” EVERY one of those is a fucking classic and better be played on the oldies FM in 20 yrs!!!- “DFTC – Drew From The Crew”

  • DFTC

I’ve been waiting for albums since then and Tech hasn’t stopped droppin the Skill – “DFTC – Drew From The Crew”

  • Mugen19189

I heard a friend play the first Midwest Choppers and was like, “Who is this guy. He’s sick.” And he was like, “Tech N9ne.” And I was like, I love this shit and am gonna listen to this bitch. lol.

  • BlazingReaper

The song that got me into tech was einstein back in 01 but the song that truly changed me into a technician for life was red nose

  • Mugen19189

The song that truly turned me into a Technician wasn’t even a song I don’t think. It was Sickology 101. I know that wasn’t too long ago, but ever since then i’ve been a huge hardcore fan.

First song I ever heard? well honestly I heard him feature on a couple psychopathic tracks before I heard any thing of his very own. Slacker was the first, the line “you say get a job? I say hit a knob! Cause the way you run the world is every bit of fraud!so what you ask of me? You’ll get no tax from me! I GOTS WHITES NATIVES N MEXICANS N BLACKS WITH ME! huh!”  that is so where its at. More recently I really have been jammin alot to Dysfunctional, and caribou lou, and omygoodness who cannot praize him for ingeniously revamping “rock me amadaius”  lol.
    Tech on some real shit.l

  • Tart Travis

for me it was songs like Constantly Dirty, Suicide Letters, This Ring, and Going Bad that made me a TechN9cian and songs like happy endings, red nose, show me a god, and need more angels are why im still a TechN9cian

  • Kevin

I’m only 15, so I heard Caribou Lou from my friend when i was like 13. Then 3 more: Like Yeah, Imma Tell and I’m A Playa. One day i decided to make a T9 playlist on YouTube. I clicked on Riot Maker. That’s what made me a Technician. Now i’ve bought everything from Calm Before the Storm to my pre-order for All 6′s and 7′s.  AND I’M SO GLAD I DID! Technician for life!

Field party my junior year of high school: all the sudden some pimped out version of the Dragnet theme comes on, it’s Planet Rock 2K. I see girls get on top of my dude’s car and start dancing and the first words I uttered were “what IS this!?”

Yo tech my G you  I been listening to your music for a while. In the Chi-town My G’s’ and I use to bump that retro shit you was spitting back in the days. The calm before the storm, Celsius, The worst was the best shit in my opinion. All of your shit is tight, but back then boy you was very hungry to get you point across on the mic. Stay grinding my G and all the hard work has now paid off. “GEAAAAHH”   Southside GD kingdom support that movement GOD BLESS and your success my G

I’ma Playa really got me listening to tech n9ne, but the deep/dark vocals and sound of T9X, and the genius behind Trapped in a Psycho’s body, really made me see how much of a genius tech is.

  • Technitions_509

the first time i heard tech was my homie and i just tryin to kick a flow, and i said somethin about ravioli and hes was like hahah like tech n9ne ”chef boy or d’s cheese and beef ravioli” and i was like huh? then he played slither for me and i was like what!! how is this? (this was about 2004 an i was into D-12) so he played what n9ne he had i think i was slacker i’ma tell and i’m a playa. i loved that shit i thik slacker was the first song i was dedicated to figuare out, than i seen the actual  album and seen it had D-12 on it so i went and bought that shit. the first couple times i just skiped to the tracks i knew, but then i just put it in one day and let the first track play after that i was hooked.
later that year i was crusin with my homie and asked if he had some tech n9ne, and he only had anghellic, i was like huh? and he put it on stamina, than breathe, then tormented and it’s alive. the next day i ran out and bought that shit and studied the shit out of it.

what i can’t understand, is why tech has yet to get a platinum record. what he does’t have a million fans? why don’t all of us make it a point to go out and buy this next album. he deserves it. come on outta of every one who loves tech we should be able to buy one cd in the first month it comes out. lets get him a million copies, of one album, sold!

Imma late comer but, the song that turned me was Let’s Ride on the let em bleed mixxtape vol.3. Beast ass song. Instantly a techn9ncian.

  • Tehboogyman

The first song I heard was “It’s Alive,” I was in 7th grade and I heard a friend playing it on his walkman.  I asked who it was and then never heard anything from Tech again for almost two years when I heard “Imma Tell” on the radio.  I went to the store that day and bought Absolute Power and listened to it on repeat for months.  Been a Tech fan ever since, been spreading his name in Japan and now I’m in Italy.  I drive by the leaning tower all the time bumping Tech, haha.  Seriously, I live 10 minutes away.

  • Tehboogyman

I’ve been listening to Tech since the very beginning.  Einstein is my favorite, but the first Tech song I heard was either “Mitchell Bade” or “Let’s Get Fucked Up” with the 57th St. RDV’s.

  • Endsley

Bout Ta Bubble was the song that original got me interested in Tech and interested in going to his concert. I have see over 59 performers live and can honestly say that Tech puts on the absolute best show. I’m going to my 5th Tech concert on July 1st and it only gets better. I’m hooked and Strictly Strange is the only music I’ll listen to. I own every song.

  • Shieldsdavid3140

the first song that got me was on the yukmouth thugged out albulation called “bombell” it is hard and original for the most part but when i got a chance to listen to a tech album which was anghellic i first was impressed by tormented that song there was as original as u can get don juan layed the track down on that and tech did a thugful job on it…..thech9iiiiinnnne!

  • nowayhome

Slacker and I never looked back

  • http://twitter.com/JeffreyPNelson Jeff Nelson

“Planet Rock 2K1″ was the first song that made me go “Who the hell is this!?” but it was “Breathe” that sealed the deal. In between those two happenings there was plenty of “Now It’s On” and “Questions” though.

  • Lee

Cloudy-Eyed Stroll Remix from Calm Before The Storm, Loving his music ever since

  • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.riordan.9 Andrew Riordan

First Tech song I ever heard was “Imma Tell” from Absolute Power when I was in like the 5th grade and ever since then i have been obsessed with Tech and all of Strange Music. Do It Big Keep It Strange.

  • Nicholas

first Tech song i heard was Im a Playa, but the song that just made me fall in love was COME GANGSTA, always and forever will be my favorite Tech song

  • Justin Joseph

i only first heard Tech in the summer of 2011, my brother played Worldwide choppers and was blown away, so i looked into his other music, i swear i heard most of his stuff around before, so i went to buy Worldwide Choppers off iTunes and thought “ahh f*** it i’ll buy the whole album” and i was instantly hooked, then i bought the Tech N9ne Box set and fell in love with it, but the song that sticks out to me is “My Favorite” that line in the hook “i never plan to die, too much i haven’t tried” saved me from trying to kill myself for a second time, but id i were to pick a song or album that made me a Technician in life and in death would be Red Nose from Sickology 101 or the All 6′s and 7′s album, Tech made me into a better person, so when i get to see him for the first time, i’m gonna be the happiest fan alive

  • wade cole

  • Austin
